MISSION INN GOLF RESORT - EL CAMPEON

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FL

Built in 1926, Mission Inn's El Campeon, "The Champion," is one of the south's oldest and most historical, prestigious golf courses. Architect Captain Charles Clarke of Troon, Scotland, blended unusual elevation changes of more than 85 feet with features of traditional golf design. Rolling fairways (some dramatic), undulating greens and well-placed berms, bunkers and sandy waste areas, as well as water on 11 holes, all only begin to characterize the aura of El Campeon. Just rated 4 stars by Golf Digest's "Best Places To Play, 2008/2009," a highly awarded distinction amongst pier Central Florida golf courses. You can't miss the Spanish-style resort inn/ hotel in the background, adjacent to several course holes. 'Championship Golf' at Mission Inn... always a challenge, always inviting, and always memorable. An easy 35-40 minute drive from most Orlando areas, accessible to all major highways (Florida Turnpike and US Hwy. 27) but most importantly, always well worth the drive!

Golfer Comments

11/24/2008 - The best course we played. Posted by Brad (Lake Placid, NY)

05/05/2008 - Beautiful course, very challenging, very well maintained. Our top rated course of the week, even if it did kill all of our scoring averages. Take a few moments during the round to stop, look around and enjoy the beauty of this course. Posted by Rick (Chesapeake, VA)

04/14/2008 - Absolutely beautiful facility. Great course. Rolling hills and slick greens are very reminiscent of Midwestern courses. Pro shop and restaurant are terrific. Played the Las Colinas course there in the afternoon. Not bad, but overpriced and doesn't compare to El Campeon. Posted by Ronald (Mount Prospect, IL)

03/17/2008 - Great layout. Holes you'll remember! Posted by Donald (Feura Bush, NY)

03/11/2008 - As good or even better than Disney courses. Posted by Carl (Warminster, PA)

03/06/2008 - Just a wonderful golf course that you wouldn't expect to find in Florida given the elevation changes. Worth the drive! Posted by Nick (Grand Rapids, MI)

03/05/2008 - Challenging course. It has length and creative greens. Elevation change, and unlevel lies on some holes can make you focus. We played both courses at Mission Inn and both deserve another visit. No GPS on carts...bring a SkyCaddie. Posted by Paul (Pleasanton, CA)

03/03/2008 - nice course was wet the day we played, would play a course closer to Orlando next time was pricy for the course we played Posted by Georgia (Cable, OH)

04/29/2007 - A little bit out of the way, but we played late morning and almost had the course to ourselves. If you don't mind the 45 minute ride, then it's well worth it. Posted by Stephen (East Walpole, MA)

03/20/2007 - A bit of a drive but worth every minute. Great condition all around. Hadn't been there in several years and gald we went back. And their replay rate is the best bargain in the area. Don't miss it. Posted by John (Holtsville, NY)
